Ashtrays (re: candy dishes). Salt & Pepper Shakers. Shot Glasses (re: Toothpick Holders). Bells. And of course, the obligatory Mug! What would a trip to Walt Disney World be without a suitcase of souvenirs to take home?
Since Walt Disney World opened in 1971, millions of these Pedestal Mugs have been sold:

To quote Mater from the Pixar Short Tokyo Drift: “Modify!” Yes, I took our toothy friends advice and modified this mug. It had the name ‘Pat’ just below the castle. Disney features entire lines of merchandise with the most common names printed on them. It’s a gimmick most gift shops use at tourist traps across America!

I don’t buy named merchandise because they are worthless to anyone other than a person with the matching name! So I scratched the name off of this mug with my fingernail. And now it’s more generic and can make a nice display piece.

You can do this easily because the mugs would have the main image printed on them first by one company, which would be more permanent. Then batches of such prepared mugs would then be sent elsewhere for the names to be printed on them. Perhaps this could even be done at Disney itself in the store selling them. Either way, the gold print for the name would not be as permanent, and so comes off quickly. This is also why you should never place one of these mugs in a dishwasher!
Now I wonder why Pat didn’t want her mug anymore?
